2022 Nissan Rogue

History/Overview

The third-generation Nissan Rogue arrived last year sporting all-new styling inside and out and some high-tech features previously unavailable in this compact crossover.

What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year

For 2022, the Rogue gains some more new tech under its hood in an optional turbocharged three-cylinder engine that is more powerful and more efficient than the existing four-cylinder. The new three-cylinder uses the same variable compression technology found in the upscale Infiniti QX50. Accompanying the new engine is a revised continuously variable transmission (CVT) designed to take advantage of the engine’s added power.

Available Trims

Nissan offers the 2022 Rogue in S, SV, SL (new for 2022), and Platinum trim levels. Rogue S starts with front-wheel drive and uses the 2.5L engine carried over from last year’s model. SV trim and up get the new three-cylinder and revised CVT, along with standard AWD.

Standard Features

Rogue S comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, heated side mirrors, dual-zone A/C, heated front seats, 8.0-inch touchscreen, and four-speaker audio.

All Rogue models also come standard with forward collision mitigation, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rear automatic braking, automatic high beams, and a driver alertness monitor.

SV trim adds adaptive cruise control, ProPilot assist, lane change and blind spot intervention, surround view cameras, 18-inch wheels, panoramic sunroof, passive keyless, and a power driver’s seat.

At the time of this writing, the new-for-2022 SL trim’s features list wasn’t available.

Platinum models gain front, rear and side sonar, traffic sign recognition, 19-inch wheels, fog lights, hands-free tailgate, three-zone A/C, rear sun shades, power front passenger seat, leather upholstery, heated rear seats, digital gauges, 9.0-inch touchscreen, head-up display, navigation, and 10-speaker audio.

Key Options

An SV Premium package adds rear sun shades, a power tailgate, leatherette upholstery, and heated rear seats.

Fuel Economy

Fuel consumption estimates for the Rogue S and its 2.5L engine are 9.0/7.1 L/100 km (city/highway) with FWD, and 9.2/7.2 with AWD. The new 1.5L turbo three-cylinder is rated for 8.4/6.7 L/100 km with its standard AWD.

Competition

The Rogue’s new powertrain helps it hold its own against key competitors like the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Volkswagen Tiguan, Mitsubishi Outlander, Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain, Ford Escape, Hyundai Tucson, and Kia Sportage.
